Satakunda
Satakunda (Satakunta) is a historical province in south western Finland. It borders to Finland Proper, Tavastia and Ostrobothnia. It is also bounded by the Baltic sea.

Satakunda is comprised within the boundaries of the administrative province of Western Finland.
History

The province, which had been a part of Sweden from the 12th century, separated when Finland was ceded to Russia in 1809. The provinces has no administrative function today but lives on as a historical legacy in both countries.

Heraldry

The arms is crowned by a dukal coronet, though by Finnish tradition this more resembles a Swedish count's coronet. Blazon: "Per fess azure and or, an upright bear sable, armed and langued gules, crowned or, holding in both paws a sword argent, sword handle or. In the upper field, on each side of the bear's head , a seven-pointed star argent."
