Israeli rock
The Israeli rock scene began in the 1960s, when American and British bands like The Beatles became popular. A few Israeli artists, like Tvika Pik , Arik Einstein and Shalom Hanoch began experimenting with rock. The first major rock band from Israel was Kaveret , who sing in Hebrew.
In the early 70s, Israeli had a burgeoning progressive rock scene. One of the first performers was Shlomo Gronich , whose 1971 debut was Why Didn't You Tell Me?! . This was however, preceded by Danny Ben Israel Bullshit 3 1/4 , which was released in 1970 and promptly forgotten about for some thirty years. Other 70s prog bands included The Churchills , Zingale , and Sheshet .
