Elaine McCoy

Elaine McCoy (born March 7 1946) is a Canadian senator from Alberta.

A lawyer by profession, McCoy is President of the Macleod Institute at the University of Calgary. From 1985 to 1993 she was the Alberta Progressive Conservative MLA for Calgary West in the Alberta legisature and held several cabinet positions in the government of Don Getty including Minister of Labour.

She has also been. Senior Member of the Alberta Ministerial Advisory Committee for Environmental Protection; Governor of the Calgary Centre for Innovative Technology; and Member of the Canadian Evaluation Society and Law Society of Alberta.

McCoy is currently vice-chair of Climate Change Central, a multi-stakeholder organization formed to co-ordinate greenhouse gas emission reductions across the province of Alberta.

She was appointed to the senate by Prime Minister Paul Martin on March 24, 2005 and sites in the Upper House as a Progressive Conservative.
