Dr. Sal Calabro is a plastic surgeon whose practice is located in Philadelphia and who is famous for performing breast implants and other cosmetic surgery for people, mostly women, who have appeared on the Howard Stern radio show.

In a classic Stern "bit", a woman is allowed into the studio after convincing Gary Dell'Abate or another Stern staffer of their need for a "boob job" or some other surgery and requesting Howard pay for the surgery. Howard usually requires the woman to strip naked and show him proof of the need for the surgery.

Stern and a group of other cronies, usually including Robin Quivers, Artie Lang, Fred Norris, Casey and Ralph Cirella , among others, evaluate the woman if she really needs breast implants or some other surgery, although Howard makes the final decision. Ralph is famous for using a laser pointer to highlight various parts of the body during evaluations.

If the woman receives Stern's blessing, she usually is sent to Dr. Calabro for the surgery. Calabro has appeared many times on the show, either in person or by telephone, to discuss the work he did on a successful candidate. He has a large photo gallery on his website devoted to patients he received by referral from Stern.

According to his web site, Dr. Calabro was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated with a pre-med degree from La Salle University. He enrolled in the University Of Florence , Italy, to study the history of art. While in Italy he entered the University of Bologna, where he studied medicine. He returned to the U.S. after receiving his M.D. and interned at Philadelphia General Hospital , part of the University of Pennsylvania. He decided to pursue cosmetic surgery uring his residency at Temple University Hospital.

After completion hsi residency, Dr. Calabro did a fellowship in Oculoplastic surgery in New York City and attended one of the first workshops on liposuction. He has taught at an annual cosmetic surgery workshop attended by physicians from the US and around the world.

Dr. Calabro is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Liposuction Surgery. Dr. Calabro has appeared on other local and nationwide TV and radio programs where he discusses and gives live demonstrations on his cosmetic surgery and surgical techniques.
