Wisconsin Rapids is a city located in Wood County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 18,435. It is the county seat of Wood County6.

Wisconsin Rapids is located at 44°23'12" North, 89°49'23" West (44.386805, -89.823078)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 36.5 km² (14.1 mi²). 34.3 km² (13.3 mi²) of it is land and 2.2 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.02% water.
Demographics
As of the census1 of 2000, there are 18,435 people, 7,970 households, and 4,782 families residing in the city. The population density is 536.8/km² (1,390.0/mi²). There are 8,426 housing units at an average density of 245.3/km² (635.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.04% White, 0.34% African American, 0.80% Native American, 3.46% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. 1.31% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 7,970 households out of which 28.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.0% are married couples living together, 10.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.0% are non-families. 34.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.26 and the average family size is 2.93.
