Vani

Vani is one of the most ancient cities of the Republic of Georgia and the administrative center of Vani district in the Imereti region of Georgia.

In the 6th century BC-1st century AD Vani was one of the main towns of the Kingdom Egrisi (Colchis). During archaeological excavations of 1947-2003 were discovered the old city of Vani and ancient settlements of the 8th-3rd centuries BC in the villages Kechinara, Tsikhesulori, Gora, Bagineti, Inashauri, Sulori, Dzulukhi, Bugnari, Bzvani, Persati and Zekari of the Vani district.
