Trevor Goddard

Trevor Goddard (October 14, 1962 - June 7, 2003) was an actor who died from an accidental drug overdose of heroin, cocaine and prescription drugs. Goddard was a former professional boxer. He appeared as Kano in Mortal Kombat and as Mic Brumby on JAG.

He was last seen in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl as a pirate in 2003. Although he was often cast in Australian roles, he was actually English due to fact that Goddard propagated himself as an Australian (e.g. Australian Naval Officer Mic Brumby).

In a final twist, Goddard was declared to be English by his father on the day of his son's funeral, something that shocked the entertainment industry. Goddard apparently attempted to tap into the Hollywood demand for Australian actors by disguising his thick London accent for an Australian one. He was so successful that he was accepted by the Australian entertainment industry as one of their own.

It is somewhat ironic that the TV series JAG gave him a tribute by having the crew sing 'Waltzing Matilda', an Australian folk song, remade from archival footage from a previous episode.

To his credit, Goddard was said to have an affinity for the Australian lifestyle.
