Trevecca Nazarene University

Trevecca Nazarene University is a liberal arts university in Nashville, Tennessee. The university was founded in 1901 by J.O. McClurkan . Originally named the Literary and Bible Training School for Christian Workers, the school's name was changed to Treveccca College in 1911. The school's name was taken from a Welsh school in 1768 which was established during the Wesleyan revival. The school was originally located in downtown Nashville. In 1914 the campus was moved to East Nashville on Gallatin Road. In 1935 the college was moved to its present location on Murfreesboro Road in southeast Nashville. In 1917 the school became an official college of the Church of the Nazarene. In 1995 the school's name was changed to Trevecca Nazarene University. Along with several bachelor degrees, the school offers a masters degrees in Religion and Education, as well as a doctorate in Education.

The school's motto is Esse quam videri (To be rather than to seem).
