The Wallflowers
The Wallflowers are a rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1990. They are composed of Jakob Dylan (vocals and guitar), son of Bob Dylan; Rami Jaffee (keyboards); Tobi Miller (guitar); Barrie Maguire (bass); and Peter Yanowitz (drums). The band got a record contract with Virgin Records and released its first album in August 1992. The band moved to Interscope and released its best-selling album to date, Bringing Down the Horse, in May 1996. The album sold 6 million copies and yielded a number of hit singles: "6th Avenue Heartache" (Billboard Modern Rock Tracks #8), "Three Marlenas" (Billboard Modern Rock Tracks #17), and "One Headlight" (Billboard Modern Rock Tracks #1).
Since then, the band has released two other albums (as of 2002) and has toured persistently. Another song that received heavy airplay was a 1998 cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" (Billboard Modern Rock Tracks #9) which appeared on the soundtrack of the movie Godzilla.
