Robert Robinson (scientist)

Sir Robert Robinson (September 13, 1886 - February 8, 1975). He won the 1947 Nobel Prize in Chemistry [1] for his research on plant dyestuffs (anthocyanins) and alkaloids. He was the Waynflete Professor of Chemistry at Oxford University from 1930 to 1954, head of the Dyson Perrins Laboratory during the same time period, and a Fellow of the Royal Society. He helped elucidate the molecular structure of compounds like strychnine, nicotine and morphine and contributed to the development of Antimalarial drugs. One of his achievements in total synthesis is the synthesis of tropinone.
