Sign O' The Times is an album by Prince, released by Warner Bros. in 1987. It was Prince's second double album, and was seen at the time as a major critical comeback after two subpar follow-ups to the smash hit Purple Rain. It was voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll. The album was also a commercial success, peaking at #6 on the Billboard 200. It boasted five hit singles, U Got the Look (#2), Sign O' the Times (#3), I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man (#10), Hot Thing (#63), and If I Was Your Girlfriend (#67).
In 1998 Q magazine readers voted it the 50th greatest album of all time; in 2003 the TV network VH1 placed it at number 35. In 2003, Rolling Stone named the album as #93 on their list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2004, Rolling Stone named the song of the same name as #299 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
