Showcase Comics was a series used to try out new characters by DC Comics. The logic was that it took several months (in the late 50's) to find out if a comic was a hit or miss. With Showcase they had the option of previewing a new character and while they waited to see to what happened they could publish another character.

Some of the hits of Showcase were the Flash, Challengers of the Unknown, Metal Men, Adam Strange, Lois Lane (in her own title), Bat Lash, Hawk and Dove and the Creeper.

Later in its run the misses started to outnumber the hits. Such notable flops are Jason's Quest , Manhunter 2070 , Top Gun and Maniaks .

Issue #100 had a cameo by everyone who every premiered in Showcase.

The series was revived several other times to little effect or market.
