Shiregreen and Brightside

Shiregreen and Brightside ward is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England. It is located in the northern part of the city. It covers an area of 6.5 square kilometres and includes the districts of Shiregreen, Wincobank and Brightside.. The population of this ward in 2001 was 20,200 people in 8,200 households. In the 2004 local elections Jane Bird, Peter Price, and Peter Rippon—all Labour Party candidates—were returned as councilors for the ward.

Brightside

Brightside () is an industrial area of Sheffield, lying north of Attercliffe.

Sheffield Brightside is also the name of one of Sheffield's six Parliamentary constituencies.

Wincobank

Wincobank (Grid reference: SK383913) is a suburb of Sheffield]], located in the northeast of the city, close to the Meadowhall shopping centre and the M1 motorway.

An Iron Age hill fort was constructed at Wincobank. The ramparts of this fort stood on the summit of a steep hill above the River Don. It was built by the Celtic Brigantes tribe in the 1st century AD, possibly to withstand the northward advance of the Roman legions.

Wincobank is home to St Thomas Boxing school which has produced some of Britain's best boxers of recent years including Naseem Hamed, Herol 'Bomber' Graham and Johnny Nelson .
