Saint Thomas of Villanueva (1488-1555), Spanish bishop, was born in Fuentellana in Castile. A graduate of the University of Alcalá, he joined the Augustinian Canons in Salamanca in 1516. Known for his skills as a preacher, he became Bishop of Valencia in 1544. He was canonized in 1658.
His feast day is September 22.
