Safari jacket

A safari jacket is a garment originally designed for the purpose of going on safari; the word "safari" entered English from Swahili in 1890.

Popularized by turn-of-the-century Anglo African adventurers, safari-style jackets were engineered for comfort and function in the African bush.

A safari jacket is commonly a light weight cotton, drill or poplin jacket, traditionally khaki in color, belted and may or may not have epaulettes (compare pictures), with four or more expandable bellows pockets. Safari jackets have been worn as mainstream casual clothing since the 1950s
