Robot Hall of Fame
The Robot Hall of Fame was established by the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in 2003. It is designed to honor both achievements in robotics technology and robots from science fiction that have served as creative inspiration in robotics. The first induction ceremony was held at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh on November 10, 2003.

- C-3PO from Star Wars (2004)
- HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey (2003)
- Mars Pathfinder Sojourner Rover, explored Mars in 1997 (2003)
- R2-D2 from Star Wars (2003)
- Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet (2004)
- Shakey the Robot , the first mobile robot to be able to reason its own actions (2004)
- Unimate , the first industrial robot, worked on a General Motors assembly line in 1961 (2003)
