Miscellaneous

The town is a frequent target of jokes on Rush Limbaugh's talk radio program; the jokes stereotype its residents as unintelligent and simplistic. More specifically, Limbaugh will use a relatively complicated word or phrase, and then say, "for those of you in Rio Linda ...," followed by the use of a more rudimentary synonym for the original word or phrase (Limbaugh hosted a local radio talk show in nearby Sacramento from 1984 to 1988). Since the disputed 2000 Presidential Election, Limbaugh has added West Palm Beach, Florida to these skits, which now feature the line, "for those of you in Rio Linda and West Palm Beach ..."
