Rainer Schüttler
Rainer Schüttler (born April 25, 1976, Korbach , Germany) is a professional tennis player from Germany. He began playing tennis at the age of ten. He currently resides in Switzerland.
Schüttler reached his first ATP tour quarterfinal in Chennai in 1997. In 1999, he finished in the ATP top 50 for the first time and also won his first ATP title in Doha.
2003 achievements
In 2003, Schüttler finished in the ATP top 10 for the first time improving his ATP ranking for the ninth year in succession, which is best among current players. He also became the first German since Boris Becker in 1989 to advance to the 4th round at all Grand Slams. He became first German to reach a Grand Slam final since Michael Stich was runner-up at Roland Garros in 1996.
2004 achievements
Schüttler won a silver medal for Germany in tennis men's doubles with partner Nicolas Kiefer at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
