Peter Agre

Peter Agre (born 1949) is an American biologist who was awarded the 2003 Nobel Prize in Chemistry (which he shared with Roderick MacKinnon) for his discovery of water channels.

Born in Northfield, Minnesota, he received his M.D. in 1974 at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently a Professor of Biological Chemistry and Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, but recently announced plans to move to Duke University.
