Motility

Motility is the ability to move spontaneously and independently.

Often, in biology or biomedical engineering, this refers to directed cell movement down gradients established in biopolymers such as:

  1. a chemical gradient chemotaxis
  2. a rigidity gradient haptotaxis
  3. a gradient of cell adhesion sites

More information on cell motility can be found under cell biology.
