Minister of Fisheries and Oceans (Canada)

The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans is the person in the Cabinet of Canada responsible for supervising the fishing industry and administrating all navigable waterways in the country. The minister is the head of the federal government's marine department, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, often referred to by its older (and technical) name, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans or DFO. Previously there had been a "Minister of Marine and Fisheries" from 1867 to 1930, a "Minister of Fisheries" from 1930 to 1969 and a "Minister of Forestry and Fisheries" until 1971.

Noted fisheries ministers of the past have included Roméo LeBlanc, John Crosbie and Brian Tobin.
