Le Temps

Le Temps is French-speaking Switzerland's biggest selling newspaper. It is a formal broadsheet that covers the whole of Switzerland. It was founded on the 18th March 1998 in a merger of Journal de Genève, Gazette de Lausanne and Nouveau Quotidien. It is based in the French-speaking capital of Switzerland, Geneva. Politically, it is left-wing and is big supporter to the United Nations & the European Union. It has a readership of 142,000, including 14,000 in German-speaking Switzerland. It is owned by 100% of itself, of which it is owned by ER Publishing at 82%, in turn is owned by Edipresse Group at 50% and Ringier Group at 50% ; Le Monde at 5%, Claude Demole at 7% and the workers of the newspaper at 6%. One of its features is the cartoonist Chappatte.
