Kimbanguism

Kimbanguism (The Church of Christ on Earth) is a branch of Christianity founded by Simon Kimbangu in what was then the Belgium Congo (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). The Belgium authorities treated the faith with suspicion and imprisoned Simon Kimbangu for most of his life (he died while in prison). The church was formally recognised by the Belgium colonial authorities in 1959. Kimbanguism gained membership of the World Council of Churches in 1969.

The three key dates in the Kimbanguist are April 6 (marking the date of the start of the ministry of healing), October 12 (marking the day Simon Kimbangu died) and Christmas day. The church is largely non sacramental with large services only loosely organised.

Their Organization: 1) The spiritual head (Diangienda) 2) Adjunct spiritual heads (Dialungana and Kosolokele – the other sons of Simon Kimbangu) 3) Bansadisi (healers) 4) Legal representatives of churches in the various countries 5) Regional representatives and their staffs 6) Subregional representatives and their staffs 7) Main parish ministers, evangelists and helpers 8) Parish-section ministers, evangelists and helpers 9) “The faithful”
