Kay Granger

Kay Granger (born January 18, 1943) is a politician from the state of Texas, currently representing the state's 12th Congressional district (map) in the U.S. House.

Granger was born in Greenville, Texas and she graduated from Texas Wesleyan University. She was elected to the Fort Worth city council in 1989 and she was elected Mayor of Fort Worth in 1991. Her achievements as mayor included a drop in violent crime. After the retirement of Congressman Pete Geren , both the Democratic and Republican parties worked to recruit Granger and Granger declared that she was a Republican. Granger won the seat in the House of Representatives by a stunning margin since her district was the former district of Jim Wright. Granger hasn't had a serious challenge to her seat yet.
