John August Roebling
Johann August Roebling (June 12, 1806-July 22, 1869) was a German-born civil engineer, educated at the University of Berlin, who moved to Pennsylvania (U.S.) in the 1830s and designed several famous bridges, including the Brooklyn Bridge, the Niagara Railway Suspension Bridge and the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge.
His son Washington Roebling continued his work.
