Jebe

Jebe was a member of one of nomadic tribes living on the territory of what is on Mongolia in the times when Genghis Khan started his ascension to power. When Genghis Khan attacked this tribe, Jebe was said, according to "The Secret History of Mongols" (one of the prime sources related to the life of Genghis Khan and his followers) to have shot the horse under Genghis Khan during the battle, and when after the battle and defeat of his tribe, brought before him, he voluntarily confessed that he did so, and further said, that "if Genghis Khan, desired to kill him, it was his choice, but if he would let him live, he would serve Genghis Khan loyally". Genghis Khan, in his own usual custom, who valued highly honesty and loyalty in his soldiers in the traditions of nomadic chivalry, pardoned him and praised him on this account, and on this occasion, gave him a new name "Jebe", which means an arrow in Mongolian. Jebe was not his birth-given name, but a nickname based on this occasion.

Jebe is further known to have become one of the best and most loyal commanders of Chenghis Khan in the conquests of a later time. His ability as a general puts him in one rank with Subudei ba'atur.

[Has any of the above been verified by historical sources? That Jebe was a Korean monk is truly surprising.] [Re: Yes, what was previously written here about Jebe is a complete fiction. He was not a Korean, but a Mongolian and that love story is a fiction too.

This Wikipedia is a great encyclopedia, but because of the fact that anyone can put anything he wants to in here makes it very VULNERABLE and even UNRELIABLE as a source. I believe that Wikipedia staff should take some steps in enabling some security from poeple messing freely with the all material presented here in. Especially, in the material that has already been well-documented, I think, there should be some kind of protection offered to it. Let people write about what is not on yet, but limit their access to already presented material. Could someone please deliver this message to Wikipedia stuff? I don't know how to contact them, so it'd be great if anyone could do that. Thanks!]
