Harry Strom

(Redirected from Harry E. Strom)

Harry Edwin Strom (July 7, 1914 - October 2, 1984), Canadian politician, was Premier of Alberta between 1968 and 1971. He had previously served as Ernest C. Manning's Minister of Agriculture from 1962 to 1967, having been first elected to the Alberta legislature in 1955.

Like his predecessors, Manning and William Aberhart, Strom was an evangelical Christian and social conservative.

Strom was the last Social Credit Premier of Alberta before the party was wiped out by the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party of Peter Lougheed. He remained as Leader of the Opposition until 1973 and retired from politics in 1975.
