Gopeng is a small town about 20km from Ipoh, the capital city of Perak in Malaysia. Gopeng is also one of the most picturesque along the West Coast.
If you are travelling along the north–south highway, spanning 890km (553 miles) from Bukit Kayu Hitam (on the Kedah–Thailand border) to Johor Bahru, you are most likely to enjoy the beautiful stretch between Tapah and Gopeng.
Dr Sun Yat Sen, the leader of the historic Chinese Revolution, stayed in Gopeng briefly, during the 1909-1911.
