Godzilla (1998)

Godzilla (1998) was a Sci-Fi film directed by Roland Emmerich and stars actor Matthew Broderick. It is loosely based on the Japanese film Gojira (1954). The plot of the film involves a giant mutated dinosaur-like monster attacking New York City. It is generally considered by fans and critics to be a pointless effort, inferior to previous film incarnations of the beast due to the drastic change in the appearance of the monster as well as its mundane treatment. The Godzilla depicted here later showed up in Godzilla: Final Wars under the name of Zilla and was humorously killed by the real Godzilla with a brutal swipe of his tail.

The soundtrack to the 1998 version featured songs by such artists as Jimmy Page and Puff Daddy ("Come With Me") and Green Day ("Brain Stew"). Perhaps notably, none of the songs on the official soundtrack album were used in the actual film, with the exception of a couple during the end credits. David Arnold's orchestral score provided the music for the rest of the movie, and roughly four minutes of it is included in the album.
