Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Freddie Prinze, Jr. (born March 8, 1976) is an American actor of Puerto Rican descent.

He was born Freddie James Prinze in Los Angeles, California, the son of Puerto Rican actor Freddie Prinze and Katherine Cochran.

His father was a comedian and actor, star of the 1970s TV sitcom Chico and the Man, who tragically committed suicide when Prinze, Jr., was only ten months old.

Prinze, Jr., was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From an early age he showed an interest in acting. He attended La Cueva High School in Albuquerque. Having an interest in drama, he became a member of the Albuquerque Children's Theatre and the Duo Drama Company. After graduation in 1994, he began auditioning for TV roles.

That same year, Prinze moved to Los Angeles. He was cast in a guest role on the ABC TV series Family Matters in 1995. He then appeared on a few after-school specials and made-for-TV movies.

Prinze made his motion picture debut in To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday (1996) starring Michelle Pfeiffer, in which he played Joey Bost, boyfriend of Claire Danes. He had a great deal of success appearing in youth-oriented movies.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and its sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), made him a star. He appeared in She's All That (1999), and had leading roles in Wing Commander (1999), Down To You (2000), Boys and Girls (2000), Head Over Heels (2001) and Summer Catch (2001).

Prinze married actress Sarah Michelle Gellar on September 1, 2002 in Jalisco, Mexico, south of Puerto Vallarta.

In 2002, he played Fred in the movie version of Scooby-Doo and repeated the role in the 2004 sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

Prinze is trained in several forms of martial arts and considers tap dancing one of his hobbies. He is popular with both the press and the public. There are numerous fan clubs and web sites devoted to him.

Freddie Prinze, Jr., and his wife, Sarah, now live in Los Angeles.
