First World Martial Arts Championship Saga

[[Emperor Pilaf Saga|]] [[Red Ribbon Army Saga|]]

The First World Martial Arts Championship Saga, also known as the 21st Budôkai Saga, is from the fictional manga/anime Dragon Ball. It covers the training of Goku and Krillin (Kuririn) by Master Roshi (Muten-Rôshi) and their participation in the World Martial Arts Championship (Tenka'ichi Budôkai).

Outline

This saga starts when Goku goes to Kame House, and asks Master Roshi to train him in Martial Arts. Roshi refused, saying it was many years since he had students. After awile, Roshi says they can train with him if they get him a girl. He brings Roshi a fat woman and a mermaid. Then, Goku sees a boat in the horizon. It was Krillin who also wanted to train with Master Roshi. (Krillin even gave Master Roshi a porno magazine in order to bribe him.) Finally, Roshi says they can train with him if they get him a girl. Goku and Krillin ride on the Nimbus Cloud looking for one. (Krillin can't ride in the cloud, so he travels on Goku's back). Finally, they find a blonde bank robber named Lunch, that misteriously transforms into a kind, blue-haired girl when she sneezes. After the prize is given, Roshi starts training the two kids. They wake up every day at 5 AM for milk deliveries. (They even have to climb hundreds of stairs in order to get to the priest's house). They also have to swim in a shark-infested lake, and move a gigantic rock with only their bare hands. On a certain day of training, Roshi threw a stone onto a huge forest, and charged Goku and Krillin with finding it. At the end of each day of training comes dinner made by Lunch. After eight long months of training, Goku, Krillin, Master Roshi, Lunch, Bulma, Yamcha, Puar and Oolong go to the twenty-first World Martial Arts Championship. After the preliminaries, the quarter-finals come. The combats are:

Krillin vs. Bacterian

Yamcha vs. Jackie Chun

Goku vs. Giran

Nam vs. Lanfan

QUARTER-TO-FINALS

1st Combat: Krillin vs. Bacterian

Krillin’s rival is Bacterian, the smelliest fighter in the World Tournament. He never had a bath since he was born. Usually, Bacterian uses his nasty smell to disgust his opponent. But since Krillin had no nose, he easily defeats him by giving him a taste of his own medince by farting in his face. Krillin then goes to the semifinals.

2nd Combat: Yamcha vs. Jackie Chun

Yamcha, anxious for victory, uses his trademark Dragon Ball attack: Wolf Fang Fist. He is quickly surprised by Chun’s incredible speed, and then he is squashed by his kicks and punches. Yamcha is surprised by being easily defeated by the old man. He then suspects he is actually Master Roshi in disguise. The mysterious Jackie Chun goes to the Semifinals.

3rd Combat: Nam vs. Lanfan

Lanfan has a ridiculous "fighting" technique, that nearly always works on men. She puts herself in underwear and seduces her adversary, allowing her to attack when their guard is down. Jackie Chun’s "concentration" on the combat makes Yamcha nearly sure he’s Master Roshi. Nam, thinking of his friends in his village (he went to the Tournament in order to get the prize money for supply water) closes his eye to block out her seductions then knocks out Lanfan by striking her in the back. Nam is qualified to the Semifinals.

4th Combat: Goku vs. Giran

The combat begins with punchs and kicks: it’s mainly tied (however when Goku uses his Nimbus to avoid a ring out. The referee warns him he will be disqualified if he does it again), until Giran uses his gum to bind Goku then tries to finish him with a punch. However Goku is saved by the appearence of his regrown tail (which was chopped off at the end of the Emperor Pilaf Saga) that grabs onto Giran's arm the moment of impact. Goku manages to break free of the gum thanks to his newfound strength, then tests it out on one of the arena walls, destroying it outright. Seeing this terrorfying feat, Giran surrenders giving Goku the win.

SEMIFINALS

5th Combat: Krillin vs. Jackie Chun

Krillin and Chun are so quick no one can see them. Chun kicks him hard in the ground. But he gets up in the final moment. The Referee asks Chun and Krillin to tell him what happened, and they do it all in slow motion. After the demonstration to the Referee, Krillin tricks Jackie by saying his shoe is untied and tricks him out of the ring, but Jackie does a KameHameHa Wave in order to lift himself back in. Yamcha then is absolutely sure he’s Master Roshi. After that, Jackie easily defeats Krillin by using all of his power and goes onto the Finals.

6th Combat : Goku vs. Nam

Nam does’t want to hurt Goku: he only wants the money for supply water. Even using all of his strenght, Nam is nearly defeated by Goku. Nam is forcd to use his Aerial Attack, in which he jumps, makes an "X" out of his arms and crushes the opponent’s chest. Nam did it, and Goku seemed to be KO'd. The Referee started to count, and at number 9, Goku gets up! But Nam quickly jumped again to perform the Aerial Attack, but this time Goku followed him, and they both fought while falling. Finally, Goku has an idea: he goes down faster than Nam, and when Nam thought he would crush Goku again, Goku moved aside. Nam crashed to the ground and got stuck. Goku kicks him hard and knocks Nam out of the ring. (Later Jackie Chun gives him water for his village when Nam helps fool Yamcha into thinking that Chun and Roshi are two different people).

FINAL

7th and Final Combat: Goku vs. Jackie Chun

The combat starts with a couple of taunts and finally a KameHameHa Wave battle. The ring nearly explodes. Chun then uses a double afterimage, and Goku always hits the image. The true Chun gets behind Goku and kicks him onto a wall (poor wall…) Goku gets up and uses a triple afterimage, and because Chun only used a double, he can’t see Goku coming from the air up to him and crushes him. Chun then uses the Mad Cow Attack (eh…) in which he looks to be drunk. Goku fails in dodging his moves. Goku then acts like a monkey and seriously hurts old Chun with his tail. Chun then seems to prepare a KameHameHa Wave, but actually it was a hipnotizing move that puts Goku to sleep. Goku soon wakes up and uses his grandfathers move "Rock, Paper, Scissors" (or Janken Punch). However, when he yelled "Paper", he was using "Rock", and was able to hurt Chun in his eyes. Chun then begins to get quite mad and uses his deadly electric attack that strikes Goku. It seemed that only Goku’s grandpa ever escaped the attack. When Goku was about to give up, he looks at the full moon and turns into an Oozaru. Everyone is shocked and runs away (except for Goku’s friends and the Referee). Puar transforms into a pair of scissors and tries to cuts Goku’s tail off. But Chun uses the classic KameHameHa Wave, and seems to have killed Goku, but actually he destroyed the Moon in order to prevent further transformations. (A Wolfman that would appear in the later in series saw the destruction of the moon and then swore revenge on Chun, because he destroyed the moon, which was the only thing that could turn him back into a man.) Because Goku is naked, he borrows Krillin's clothes. Chun then says to use only physical movements since they used up a lot of energy attacks and both are now depleted. After a lot of punching and kicking, they both charge at each other and both are hit by the other strong jump kick. The Referee starts a count for each one of them. When neither get up by the end of the count, he declares the first to stand and say "I am the world champion!" would be the winner. First, Goku seems to stand up, but falls before he can finish the sentence. Chun then lifts himself up slowly and remains that way a bit before he refeshingly spouts the phase, thus he is declared world champion.

Master Roshi then takes everyone to dinner and plans on paying with his prize money (because he IS "Jackie Chun") but Goku eats so much the money is spent completely.
