Fairview, Oregon

Fairview is a city located in Multnomah County, Oregon. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 7,561.

Geography

Fairview is located at 45°32'31" North, 122°26'20" West (45.541962, -122.439021).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.0 km² (3.5 mi²). 8.3 km² (3.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.78% water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 7,561 people, 2,831 households, and 1,936 families residing in the city. The population density is 912.3/km² (2,360.8/mi²). There are 3,116 housing units at an average density of 376.0/km² (972.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 76.21% White, 3.44% Asian, 3.04% African American, 0.83% Native American, 0.37% Pacific Islander, 10.51% from other races, and 5.59% from two or more races. 16% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,831 households out of which 36.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.9% are married couples living together, 13.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.6% are non-families. 22.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.67 and the average family size is 3.13.

In the city the population is spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 11.3% from 18 to 24, 33.7% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 102.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $40,931, and the median income for a family is $43,317. Males have a median income of $37,342 versus $25,909 for females. The per capita income for the city is $19,006. 19.1% of the population and 13.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 26.1% of those under the age of 18 and 12.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
