Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson

Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson (appr. 1390s - 1436) was a Swedish statesman and rebel leader. He was the leader of the Engelbrekt rebellion in 1434 against Eric of Pomerania, the king of the Kalmar Union. In 1435 he was appointed commander of the national forces (rikshövitsman) at the first Riksdag in Arboga. On May 4, 1436 he was assassinated on an island in Lake Hjälmaren by Måns Bengtsson (Natt och Dag) .
