Emperor Yeongyang (556-618), the 26th emperor of the Goguryeo Dynasty during three kingdom period of ancient Korea, is the ruler best remembered for repelling a series of invasion by the Chinese Sui Dynasty from 598 to 614, known as the Goguryeo-Sui War. He had defeated four campaigns by Emperors Wendi and Yangdi, including the great campaign in 612, when more than a million troops invaded Goguryeo.
