The Dupont & Plaza Hotel and Casino was a hotel located in Condado, Puerto Rico a district of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
At around 3:30 in the afternoon of December 31st of 1986, a massive fire was set at the Dupont Plaza by three disgruntled employees. Flammable liquid was placed in a storage room on the ground floor of the hotel. The fire led to the death of 97 people and injured 140.
In the years that followed the fire, the hotel was refurbished and today is operated by Marriot Hotels.
