Dotless I

The Dotless I is a letter from the Turkish variant of the Latin alphabet, used to write the Turkish, Azerbaijani, and Tatar languages. This alphabet contains two distinct I letters, one dotted, and one dotless.

ı I is the letter which describes the standard i sound. The miniscule does not have a dot, unlike the miniscule for I in the standard Latin alphabet.

i İ describes the variant I used in Turkish. The majuscule is dotted in all cases.

Example: İstanbul (starts with an i sound, not an ı).
