Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449 - January 11, 1494) was a Florentine painter from the Renaissance and a contemporary of Botticelli. His actual name was Domenico di Tommaso Bigordi. Perhaps his most notable work is Old man and his grandson (1480, Louvre, Paris) but he executed fresco paintings in Florence and other Italian cities. Another famous painting by Ghirlandaio is the portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni; 1488 (Madrid, Palacio Villahermosa).
