Dog-collar act

In 1927, the Australian Commonwealth Nationalist government amended the Federal Crimes Act so that it could be used as a tool against craft, trade and industrial unions. The Federal government repeatedly used the act to attack particular Australian unions. The Australian labour movement nicknamed this the Dog-collar act. This led to the formation of the Australian Council of Trade Unions.
