Chenab River

The Chenab River rises in the Himalayan ranges of Kashmir and flows through the plains of the Punjab, forming the boundary between the Rechna and the Jech Doabs. It joins the Jhelum River at Trimmu , and merges with the Sutlej River to form a tributary of the Indus. The total length of the Chenab is approximately 960 kilometres.

The river was known to the Greeks as the Acesines. In 325, Alexander the Great founded the town of Alexandria (present day Uch) at the confluence of the Chenab and Indus rivers.
