Bryant H. McGill
Bryant Harrison McGill is an Irish / American poet who was classically trained by contemporary and past masters such as the protégé and friend of English-born American writer W.H. Auden. McGill also studied for many years under the epic author and thinker Dr. Allan W. Eckert, who has been nominated on seven separate occasions for the Pulitzer Prize in Literature and was recipient of an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
McGill, who was born in Mobile, Alabama, has been writing poetry for over two decades. His poetic aspirations and career were nurtured by George Plimpton of the Paris Review, who was praised as a "central figure in American letters" when inducted in 2002 into the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
Bryant McGill is best known for his practice of what he calls "Living Poetry", where he corresponds regularly with hundreds of notable achievers and thinkers around the world sharing his ideas through poetry. In one newspaper interview he was quoted as saying he uses his poetry to forge relationships, and to communicate his ideas and philosophies to the people who shape the world's policies and ideals. This practice has won him recognition and lavish praise for his creative works from such individuals as Michael Douglas, Ed McMahon, Elizabeth Taylor, Jules Archer, Bob Hope, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, James Earl Jones, and former President George H. W. Bush just to name a few in a very long list of politicians, professors, celebrities, authors, Nobel Prize Laureates and other global leaders.
McGill is known internationally as one of America’s most exciting rising figures in the world of poetry. Along with numerous awards, he was recently included in the prestigious Marquis Who's Who in the World. Reserved only for the most distinguished and significant achievers of international notoriety, this respected reference contains carefully selected global leaders from 215 nations and territories. In 2004, McGill was also nominated for possible induction into the Poetry Project's "Contemporary Poets Hall of Fame" which is sponsored by ibiblio, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication UNC-CH.
