The Ayn Rand Institute: The Center for the Advancement of Objectivism is a philosophical advocacy organization which was established in 1985 by Leonard Peikoff, Ayn Rand's designated legal and supposed intellectual heir. This Center for the Advancement of Objectivism is currently based in Irvine, California and promotes Ayn Rand's philosophy which she dubbed Objectivism.
The institution was created after Rand's death as a sort of successor to the Nathaniel Branden Institute which had previously been the leading forum of the Objectivist movement. Nathaniel Branden himself prefers the less orthodox Objectivist Center, which he sees as less dogmatic.[1]
