American Pie (movie)

American Pie is a 1999 gross-out comedy film written by Adam Herz and directed by brothers Paul and Chris Weitz. Set in the fictional town of East Great Falls, Michigan (based on Herz's hometown of East Grand Rapids), the film tells the story of four male high school friends and the pact that they make to help one another lose their virginity before they graduate. It coined the popular slang term MILF. The film was released in the United States on July 9, 1999, and grossed over $101 million in the USA on a budget of $11 million. It is followed by two sequels: American Pie 2 (2001), and American Wedding (2003).
