Agent Cody Banks

Agent Cody Banks is a movie released in the U.S. on March 13, 2003 that follows the adventures of 15-year-old Cody Banks (played by Frankie Muņiz) who has to finish his chores, avoid getting grounded, and save the world by going undercover for the CIA. Hilary Duff (Natalie Connors), Angie Harmon (Ronica Miles), and Arnold Vosloo (Molay) are co-stars. The plot involves the use of nanotechnology for nefarious ends.

Of note, this film was the first major motion picture project for Duff apart from the film spinoff of her Lizzie McGuire TV series. The same can be said for Harmon, who had just come off a three-year stint as Assistant D.A. Abbie Carmichael on NBC's Law and Order.

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London is the sequel, released in the U.S. on March 6, 2004. Frankie Muņiz was the only major returning star, with Hannah Spearritt now playing the love interest and Anthony Anderson as the sidekick. As the title suggests, the location had switched to London with Cody trying to recover a stolen mind control device.

The second film may be the last theatrical release for the fledging series. The US $23 million gross for the sequel was about half of the original, and Muniz has publicly stated that he will not do a third installment. An argument could be made that he's getting too old even if he wanted to do another -- he was 18 (playing a 15-year-old) in the second film. (Not to be outdone, Spearritt was 23 playing a high schooler.)
