Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker

Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker (ZAZ) are a comedy filmmaking trio consisting of David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker. The three met at the University of Wisconsin and formed a theater group called Kentucky Fried Theater. This led to a sketch film, Kentucky Fried Movie (1977), which was written by the group and directed by John Landis. This was followed by Airplane! (1980), the TV series Police Squad! (1982) and Top Secret! (1984). All of these relied heavily on parodies, visual gags and meta-references, and established a strong cult following.

Each of the group has also had individual success: David Zucker with the Police Squad! spinoff movie The Naked Gun and its two sequels, Jim Abrahams with Hot Shots! and Hot Shots! Part Deux, and Jerry Zucker with the non-comedy movies Ghost and First Knight.
