The Zaza are Kurds from Northern Kurdistan in eastern Anatolia (Turkey). Their language, Dimli or Zazaki, is Northern Kurdish group of languages which also include Kurmanji and is closely related to Hawrami which is also another form of Kurdish language. For this reason, the Zaza are often referred to as a subgroup of the Kurds. Until recently, Turkish authorities banned the public use of Dimli/Zazaki, and they have tended to use the words Zaza and Zazaki as pejoratives, leading to an increased preference for the term Dimli among the ethnic group themselves.
Zaza is also a name that appears [1] in the Bible, meaning "belonging to all" or "plenty". [2]

Zaza is also a famous play, originally written by French playwrights Pierre Berton and Charles Simon , but probably best known in the English-speaking world in the 1898 adaptation by David Belasco. The title character is a prostitute who becomes a music hall entertainer and the mistress of a married man. [3]
