Yadav, a kshatriya Hindu caste in India and Nepal. Through its political party, the Samajwadi Party, this caste wields considerable political clout, especially in the government of Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state. In Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal has emerged as a strong coalition of Yadavs and Muslims.
