World Federalist Movement

The World Federalist Movement (WFM) is a global citizens movement with member and associated organizations around the globe. The WFM international secretariat is based in New York City across from the United Nations headquarters. Founded in 1947 in Montreux, Switzerland, the Movement brings together organizations and individuals committed to the vision of a "just world order through a strengthened United Nations." WFM has ECOSOC consultative status at the United Nations. It currently has 23 member organizations and 16 associated organizations, and counts 30,000 to 50,000 supporters.

WFM calls for an end to rule by force by creating a world governed by the rule of law. This objective would be accomplished by strengthened and democratized world institutions that would have plenary constitutional power. World Federalists support the creation of democratic global structures accountable to the citizens of the world. They advocate a world government based on the principles of federalism. World federalism calls for the division of international authority among separate agencies, a separation of powers among judicial, executive and parliamentary bodies.
