Wilhelm Jordan

Wilhelm Jordan 1842-1899

Remembered as the Jordan of the Gauss-Jordan elimination algorithm, where Jordan's work involved improving the stability of the algorithm so it could be applied to minimizing the squared error in surveying.

Not to be confused with the mathematician Camille Jordan who did work on matrices.
