Ve (В, в) is the third letter of the Cyrillic alphabet, representing the sound [v]. In Russian, it is pronounced [f] at the end of a word. In other languages also could be pronounced [w]. It looks like the B of the Latin alphabet.
Ve's old name is Vedi. It is derived from Greek beta (Β, β), which was, evidently, already pronounced [v] in Greek by the time the Cyrillic alphabet was created.
