Underground (movie)

Underground is a film directed by Emir Kusturica.

The film won the 1995 Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film "Underground" also has a soundtrack, written by Goran Bregovic. It's available as a CD on Mercury (Polygram).

The music is what you might call Yugo-Country, heavy on the brass and wailing voices. The words are (I'm told) very funny, but it'll make you smile - and shed a tear - even if you don't speak a word of Serbian. The musicians are in the "talented amateur" category, tuning and timing are optional.
